31ff8j0mg9lIn the Cellar by Jan Philipp Reemtsma

  • I enjoyed this book
  • I would recommend this book to a friend

This book is a first-person account of the experience of being kidnapped, taken hostage and held for ransom. A unique introspective look at the psychological, physical and spiritual changes a person encounters when they are stripped of their sense of control, environment and sense of self. This book was a good and interesting read. I couldn’t put it down.

This book follows Robopocalypse, which I recommend reading first. This book is an engaging story with likeable characters. The conflict is intense but not so much that I did not want to continue reading to find out what happens next.

1Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant?: A Memoir by Roz Chast

  • I enjoyed this book
  • I would recommend this book to a friend

This graphic novel is a non-fiction account of the author’s experiences as she watches her parents age. Roz Chast is an award winning cartoonist for the New York Times and she chronicles the humour and heartbreak of aging parents. It is an honest account full of the rage, sadness, hope and love that people feel as they lose loved ones. A tough topic told with humour.

  • I enjoyed this book
  • I would recommend this book to a friend

This award-winning humourous book was fun to read. Prudence decides to leave New York and buy a farm so she can be part of the wonderful life of a hobby farmer. She wants to be part of the Farmer’s Market and sell her produce every Saturday. The cast of “characters” who live with her at the farm makes this book a lot of fun to read!

  • I enjoyed this book
  • I would recommend this book to a friend

I picked this book as my graphic novel & couldn’t put it down. The humor & family memories make it very relatable and the recipes all sound delicious! I would highly recommend this book for anyone who likes spending time in the kitchen.

I relished Relish!
