Let’s celebrate the always amazing films of the Cannes Film Festival, by taking a look at a few of the best entrees from 2015.

Embrace of the Serpent (also available on DVD)

The film centers on Karamakate, an Amazonian shaman and the last survivor of his people, and the two scientists who, over the course of 40 years, build a friendship with him. The film was inspired by the real-life journals of two explorers) who traveled through the Colombian Amazon during the last century in search of the sacred and difficult-to-find psychedelic Yakruna plant.

Cemetery of Splendor

Soldiers with a mysterious sleeping sickness are transferred to a temporary clinic in a former school. The memory filled space becomes a revelatory world for housewife and volunteer Jenjira, as she watches over Itt, a handsome soldier with no family visitors. Magic, healing, romance and dreams are all part of Jen’s tender path to a deeper awareness of herself and the world around her.
